Family Transitions - Co-Parenting
The Parenting Center's Family Transitions program provides comprehensive support to those who are raising children between two homes. Our dynamic services are offered to parents, step-families, grandparents, and children, and include education classes, consultation, and mediation.
Classes
The two co-parenting series, Children in the Middle and Kids First, help empower family members to look at their situation from a more effective point of view, make better decisions, and focus on the most important people in their lives, their children. Through the classes, participants learn not only how to make better choices themselves, but also what professional services are available to them. For a list of current classes, please visit our Calendar page.
Consultation
This service allows parents to meet with a facilitator to develop their own co-parenting plan, enabling them to determine how much time the child will spend in each of the two homes, how to involve other family members, and how to overcome nagging issues and provide continuity for the children.
Mediation
Another component of the program is mediation, an alternate form of dispute resolution that allows the participants to make decisions regarding the children, property, and finances without the necessity of bringing these issues to court.
High-Conflict Families
A reduced price package of services is available to help families focus on their children and learn to co-parent effectively. Designed for those having difficulty resolving issues, the participants develop a co-parenting agreement that promotes positive results.
