Family Transitions Program

Family Transitions Program, Co-Parenting Services

The Parenting Center's Family Transitions program provides comprehensive support to those who are raising children between two homes. Our dynamic services are offered to parents, step-families, grandparents, and children, and include classes, consultation, and mediation.

Co-Parenting Classes:

  • Co-Parenting Essentials Part I
  • Co-Parenting Essentials Part II
  • Kids First

All three classes uphold the basic concept to empower family members to look at their situation from a more effective point of view, make better decisions, and focus on the most important people in their lives, their children. Participants learn not only how to make better choices themselves, but also discover the various professional services that are available to them.

Living Apart, Working Together:

Both parents are required to attend together. This class will teach skills to help reduce tension and stress, and improve communication through conflict resolution as you strive to work together for the well-being of the child.

Consultation:

This service allows parents to meet with a facilitator to develop their own co-parenting plan, enabling them to determine how much time the child will spend in each of the two homes, how to involve other family members, and how to overcome nagging issues and provide continuity for the children.

Mediation:

Another component of the program is mediation, an alternate form of dispute resolution that allows the participants to make decisions regarding the children, property, and finances without the necessity of bringing these issues to court.

High-Conflict Families Package:

A reduced price package of services is available to help families focus on their children and learn to co-parent effectively. Designed for those having difficulty resolving issues, the participants develop a co-parenting agreement that promotes positive results.

Anger Management is also an element of the Co-Parenting / Family Transitions program.
