Dating? Engaged? Married?  

Relationship education can strengthen the bond you have with your partner, reduce stress, and help you communicate effectively. Workshops are 8 hours long and are free or low-cost.  Participants will learn about communication skills, conflict resolution, and key components of strong relationships.  Some couples may choose to seek the services of a counselor or therapist, depending on their situation, but Twogether in Texas classes can benefit anyone. 

Engaged Couples 

Engaged couples who complete an 8-hour workshop can use their certificate of completion to get $60 off their marriage license fee as well as a waiver of the 72-hour waiting period.  Certificates are valid for one year from the workshop date and must be presented at the County Clerk’s office before applying for a marriage license.  Couples can take a class anywhere in Texas.  A list of classes can be found here or you can search for a provider at www.twogetherintexas.com. The Parenting Center has offered Twogether in Texas classes in the past. We will begin offering classes again in late February 2012 as a part of our new Empowering Families Project and these classes will also count toward Twogether in Texas and will allow couples to receive a discount on the marriage license. Are you already involved in pre-marital counseling through a church or counseling office? 

If you are not sure if your premarital counseling or education will be accepted for the Twogether in Texas program, you can search approved providers at www.twogetherintexas.com. If your counselor or faith-based leader is not on the list of Twogether in Texas Affiliates then talk with him/her about becoming an affiliate of Twogether in Texas... it is free and will allow couples like you to recieve the certificate for the $60.00 discount on the marriage license!
