Healthy Marriage - Healthy Families Coalition of Tarrant County
Sixty-three organizations from the Tarrant County area have come together to form the Healthy Marriage-Healthy Families Coalition of Tarrant County. Included in the coalition are faith-based organizations, social services agencies, school districts, city and county government agencies, and a variety of non-profit organizations. The mission of the Healthy Marriage-Healthy Families Coalition of Tarrant County is "strengthening families and marriages through healthy relationships." The coalition members present marriage enrichment workshops through their organizations.

Twogether in Texas

The Parenting Center is one of the 12 Regional Intermediaries for "Twogether in Texas," the Texas Health and Human Services Commission’s Healthy Marriage Initiative. As Regional Intermediary, The Parenting Center will be responsible for ensuring healthy marriage services are available in its 11-county region, which includes Cooke, Denton, Erath, Grayson, Hood, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant and Wise Counties.

 

The Healthy Marriage Initiative in Texas promotes FREE, skills-based marriage education and provides couples with the tools they need to manage the challenges inherent in relationships. Research has shown that couples who receive relationship education have more stable relationships, which increases favorable outcomes for themselves and their children. Classes will benefit couples who are seriously dating, engaged to marry, and those married for any length of time.

 

Couples who complete the approved 8 hours of research and skills-based “Twogether in Texas” instruction will receive:

·     A certificate of completion

·     Waiver of $60 of the marriage license fee

·     Waiver of the 72-hour waiting period before marriage eligibility
